Hydrogen powered trains
Hydrogen has the advantage of being a chemical form of storing energy. This can help in the railway sector to bridge gaps between parts of the track where electric power is available and parts which are not electrified yet.
Battery power is not the one-fits-all solution, especially for heavy freight trains or also in other sectors such as operating container vessels or airplanes. Therefore, we need other forms for storing energy at high density.
Hydrogen can be one way of achieving this and I’m very happy to see this development in my domain – the rail sector!
