Real world phishing attacks
This post is a great example, that a spear phishing attack also works in the offline world. It does not always have to be an e-mail!
Thank you to Marc Torke for sharing this. The letter in the picture is claiming to come from an official German court and was sent to a newly founded company. They did their job quite well:
– 🕑 It’s the right timing: new companies are in the beginning always receiving letters from authorities regarding their registration.
– 📃 Good mimicking of a real court letter in Germany: Yes, they use this font and yes, they print on recycled paper 😉
💡 Conclusion: Check before you pay. Verify that the bank details are correct (e.g. via the offical web page or calling the court – but: do not use the number on the letter.)
